2026 Liberation Calendar

2026 Liberation Calendar created by @blackheritageacademy

This February, Black Scranton Project is doing something intentional.

We're following the 2026 Liberation Calendar — a partnership between Black Heritage Academy and the African American Policy Forum — as part of our Black History Month commemoration.

The Liberation Calendar is a daily practice designed to help us restore, ground, mourn, resist, rejoice, imagine, and connect throughout the month. Each day offers a suggested practice, a reflection question, and a call to action.

This isn't passive remembrance. It's active engagement with our history, our present, and our future.

Why We're Practicing Alongside You

At Black Scranton Project, we believe liberation isn't a destination — it's a daily practice.

As the creators of the Liberation Calendar write:

"As Black people, our path forward—toward justice, liberation, and self-determination—begins with care: for ourselves, for each other, and for our collective history."

That resonates deeply with our mission. This year's Black History Month theme, Black History: A Centennial Celebration, marks 100 years since Carter G. Woodson founded Negro History Week — what would become Black History Month. It's a moment to honor the legacy of intentional remembrance and to recommit ourselves to it.
